Who Am I
Hello there! My name is Hillary Langfeld. I am so excited that you have taken the brave step to find a counselor that will best fit your needs. Let me tell you a little about myself so you can decide if you think you and I will be a good fit.
I am a western Minnesota native with strong roots in the Fergus Falls area. I completed my undergraduate degrees at University of North Dakota and Minnesota State University Moorhead. I received my Bachelors degree in Social Work and a Bachelors of Arts in Gerontology with an emphasis in Social Work. I pursued my Masters of Social Work degree through the University of North Dakota and completed the needed supervision and testing requirements to be become a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Minnesota. I also have received training as a Death Doula through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA) as well as A Sacred Passing: Death Midwifery and Communicate Education (ASP).
My theoretical perspective is closely related to the Humanistic Approach of Carl Rogers. This perspective holds center the idea that individuals need an environment that provides them with genuineness, acceptance, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I works tirelessly to create a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. An environment focused on acceptance fosters safety and self exploration resulting in the ability to grow and learn things about yourself you may not have previously realized. Your care is person centered and tailored specifically to meet your needs
I have had the privilege of working with individuals of many different populations to discover and explore their true self through therapy. My specific interest revolves around serving the geriatric population, those who are struggling with death, loss, and grief, individuals who are faced with a life limiting illness or near death.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. We enjoy spending as much time outside as we can when the weather is warm!
